Overview & Planning

For more than four decades, CALM Zoo has been Kern County’s window into the natural world, showcasing plants and animals while educating thousands of children each year.

Acting as both a wildlife rehabilitation center and zoo, CALM Zoo exists to educate the public on the amazing wildlife and plants that thrive in California. The Master Plan was created by the CALM Zoo team in collaboration with CLR Design and is a 20-year vision to enhance wildlife care, modernize facilities, and create a memorable experience for every guest.

Each project zone will feature thoughtfully integrated guest amenities, including updated restrooms, breastfeeding pods, misters, a new snack hub, an event garden lawn, and more.

We need your help with our mission.
